The Grade 5 & 6’s have been learning about Canadian politics related to the federal election. Students were able to research and present information on a particular party, and to take place in the student vote process.

The class is doing a novel study on the novel “Because of Winn-Dixie” by Kate DiCamillo. The story is about a young girl who struggles with her feelings and the relationships she has.

We have been discussing compassion in Religion class. We have read Bible stories that teach about compassion, and students have created skits reflecting on what they’ve learned.

Reminders:
Movie Night is this Thursday evening in the school gym.
The Terry Fox walk is at 1:00 on October 29th. Students have been asked to do chores to earn a bit of money to donate to the Cancer Society. They also have the option of bringing in a loonie for the same cause, and can wear a hat that day if they do.
On October 31st, we will be having a class party in the afternoon. Students can dress up if they wish, but are asked to dress in a child friendly way (no masks, blood or weapons please). The school will be collecting non- perishable food items that day as well, to donate to those in need.
